'Each piece is individual and unique' at Innisfil Spring Market

'I've always been a big believer in supporting our local businesses. They're the bread and butter of the economy that we have,' says deputy mayor

Saturday's rainy weather didn't deter shoppers looking to get their hands on some one-of-a-kind creations.

Organized by Nina La Costa, the Innisfil Spring Market was held at the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre.

"The event went really well with a big influx of early bird shoppers," said La Costa.

Vendors and artisans sold various items including, works of photography on canvas and goods, jewellery, sweets and granola, candles, charcuterie boards, and wreaths. Representatives from Scentsy, Pampered Chef, and the Royal Canadian Legion also attended.

Deputy Mayor Kenneth Fowler and his son, Gabriel, were among the enthusiastic shoppers.

"I've always been a big believer in supporting our local businesses," said Fowler. "They're the bread and butter of the economy that we have. Everything is made with love (and) care; it's not manufactured en masse. Each piece is individual and unique and makes it all that more special."

Photographer, Julie Kennedy was one of the many vendors on hand.

"My business name is Jewel Snaps Photography and I've been photographing your families, your graduations, your weddings and many other events and milestones for more than 10 years," she told InnisfilToday. "I also do markets where you can see and purchase my photography on canvas for your home, business or cottage. Today, I got to meet and speak with many wonderful people of the Innisfil and Simcoe County community. It's great seeing so many people coming out to support local events with local artists and makers."

Shoppers told InnisfilToday that they enjoyed attending the market, and the feeling was shared among vendors. Founder of Wacky Wood Crafter, John Pham, said it "was an amazing and successful event that bought together many people from the community. It's a great opportunity for local business owners to showcase their products and services."

"This is our first spring sale," said Co-owner of Circles of Love, Kila Kopitoski. "Right now, we are showcasing all our spring flowers -- our sunflowers, our crazy flowers -- and also our Easter, Spring, (and) Summer (wreaths)."

Circles of Love offers wreaths for all of the major holidays, like Halloween, Christmas, and St. Patrick's Day.

Excited shoppers and vendors are invited to mark their calendars, as the next event that La Costa is organizing is the Innisfil Summer Market, which will be held on June 24, 2023.
