With the risk of freezing rain in the forecast, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for areas including ours.

The following is the advisory issued from Environment Canada:

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Orillia - Midland
  • Dufferin - Innisfil
  • Mount Forest - Arthur - Northern Wellington County

Risk of freezing rain this afternoon.

Hazards: Slippery conditions due to freezing rain.

Timing: This afternoon.

Discussion: Precipitation is moving into portions of southern Ontario this afternoon.

With temperatures near or just below the freezing mark, there is a threat of freezing rain. Slippery roads and surfaces are possible.

Any freezing rain is expected to change to rain later today as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
