Neighbourhood Nights continue in Ward 1 on Monday, July 10

Residents are invited to gather at the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre Monday evening

The next Neighbourhood Nights event will take place in Ward 1 on Monday, July 10 from 6-8 p.m., where residents are invited to gather at the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre located at 7883 Yonge Street.

With a diverse community that is made up of everyone from young families to seniors, Coun. Kevin Eisses looks forward to meeting Ward 1 constituents in Stroud, a vibrant community that "feels like home" to him as he continues to put faces to names on that evening.

A first-term member of the Town Council throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Coun. Eisses told InnisfilToday he is proud to have served Innisfil at that time, which weathered a bizarre series of circumstances caused by the global health crisis. He noted that Innisfil was one of the first municipalities to hold virtual meetings via Zoom, which was part of the collaborative effort enacted across municipal resources that ensured that the town remained engaged and reactive.

Coun. Kevin Eisses and his family have deep roots in the community in more ways than one, as he is a crop and dairy farmer. Now in his second term, Coun. Eisses told InnisfilToday there are approximately 2,000 farms across Simcoe County. Each one faces its own challenges and is run in a unique way as "Farms come in all shapes and sizes," he said.

As the provincial and federal governments respond to the need for more housing, Coun. Eisses told InnisfilToday he is in favour of the development happening within the town, provided the rural needs of the community are respected. Eager to share the challenges faced by farmers, Coun. Eisses said he was happy to participate in the educational initiative hosted by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and the Simcoe County Federation of Agriculture in April 2023 at Hewitt Creek Farms where the town council and members of staff were invited to learn more about farm equipment and processes. He told InnisfilToday the farmers in attendance spoke about the hardship of driving such equipment down busy streets, so some of the attendees climbed aboard the equipment in a controlled environment. They tried their best to manoeuvre around placed obstacles, such as a garbage can.

As Neighbourhood Nights events are family-friendly, the town has noted the Mobile Youth Centre will be on-site to offer life-size board games, lawn games and more on Monday evening. In addition to meeting Coun. Eisses, residents can also meet with town staff and community partners including the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, InnPower and InnServices.

Neighbourhood Nights continue on Wednesday, July 12 in Ward 7 with Coun. Fred Drodge. To find out which ward you live in, check out the town's ward map by clicking here.
