Impaired charge laid after driver rear-ends another vehicle

 An Innisfil man was charged after South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a collision involving a possible impaired driver.

On Saturday, July 24, 2021, at approximately 5:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a gas station in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and 20th Sideroad in Innisfil after a citizen reported being rear-ended by a vehicle that left the scene after exchanging some information. Officers subsequently located the driver who was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, 58-year-old Joseph Cote of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.  

His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The accused was released with a future court date.
