Zachary Comeau has been charged with second-degree murder in the Sept. 16 shooting death of Andrew Brenton Brown, 38, of Warkworth, Ont.

A suspect in a Sept. 16 homicide investigation near Peterborough was located and arrested in Barrie on the weekend and subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

Members of the Northumberland OPP, under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, arrested 18-year-old Zachary Comeau, of no fixed address, shortly after 8 a.m., on Sunday, Oct. 17.

Comeau was one of two people wanted in connection with the shooting death of 38-year-old Wrkworth resident Andrew Brenton Brown last month in Trent Hills, which is located approximately 45 minutes southeast of Peterborough.

Members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) executed a search warrant at a Barrie home, where they located Comeau. He was arrested and has been charged for second-degree murder.

Comeau was held for a bail hearing on Oct. 18 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Bill Dickson, the OPP's media relations co-ordinator, told BarrieToday the investigation is ongoing and no additional information was being released at this time, including where in Barrie the arrest took place.

Comeau's links to Barrie remain unclear.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said he was aware of the incident, but noted he was unaware of any involvement of Barrie police in Sunday's arrest.

Investigators are continuing their search for a second suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued for Mississauga resident Kaveon Terry Marcus Symeon Daniel, 19, who is described as a Black male, approximately five-foot-10 and 130 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.  Police are advising anyone who sees him to not approach him, but rather to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also submit information online at www.stopcrimehere.ca.
