It is with profound sadness that the family of Rev. David Bruce Black announce his peaceful passing on Jan 2, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Lorraine; children: Alexandra and Gordon; stepchildren: Jennifer and her husband Peter Kluszczynski, and Kelly MacDougall; grandchildren: Chloe, Cameron, Christopher, Ryan and Ashley; sister, Frances, and her husband Bruce Coe; and their sons Jason and Genny Coe and Family and Stephen Coe and Family.

David is a retired United Church minister.  Some of the congregations he served were:  Streetsville, Lynedoch, Annan and Woodford, Westway, Newtonville, Kendal and Shiloh, Harriston, Wasaga Beach, Calgary, Corunna, and Ebenezer United Churches.  

David was also a volunteer Police Chaplain to the O.P.P. for approximately 30 years.  He was a lifelong learner, passionate for social justice and loved convertibles, dinner parties with friends, and a good gospel concert!

Visitation and funeral service will be on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Grace United Church (350 Grove St. E. Barrie, ON L4M 2R7).  Visitation will be from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.  The funeral service will be at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow in Memorial Hall. 

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to one of the following:  Ontario Native Women's AssociationSick Kids Hospital or Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

The family wishes to send a special "thank you" to the staff at Royal Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion.
